Churches where there are some members who have some experience of planning and running projects (whether in their work, or in other aspects of church life), but want help in connecting with their community |

| What support does the participating church recieve? |
An external facilitator for the duration of the processPlanning and preparation manuals |
An external Tearfund facilitator intensively involved for the first six months of the processA support worker provided by the resource organisation to provide ongoing accompaniment of the church throughout the process |
| Who in the church is the process aimed at? |
The whole church (with a co-ordinating team being appointed to help manage and organise the process) |
Initially a core group of 10-12 people (with the whole church being kept informed throughout with increasing opportunities for involvement) |
| How long does the process take? |
As long as necessary. The process goes at the speed of the church. Most churches take between 9-18 months before an initiative is up and running. |
Within 6 months the core group will have implemented an initiative. The process will continue as more church members get involved with support from the resource organisation |
| Can individual churches apply to the process? |
Yes |
No. Discovery is only offered to churches as part of a Tearfund/ resource organisation partnership. |
