Criteria for Helping to Choose Core Group Members

The person:

  • Can participate in a group and contribute to discussions
  • Can listen to others
  • Has shown some initiative in the past (eg, has led a Sunday school lesson)
  • Has some commitment to the church (although having 1-2 members who are on the fringe of the church can also be very helpful)
  • Has some vague interest in community work
  • Can commit two hours a month to core group meetings

The ideal size of a core group is between 8 -12 people. Experience has shown that it is impossible to do the Discovery process with a core group smaller than six.
