Poor governance has a negative impact on the poor. Poor governance is a product of dysfunctional relationships between the state and its citizens.
Corruption is one of the major effects of poor governance. Corruption undermines the well-being and quality of life, particularly for the poorest and most vulnerable people. In Africa alone, the cost of corruption has been estimated at US$148 billion a year, representing 25% of the continent’s GDP.
